Dermal fillers are made of various kinds of natural and man-made or synthetic materials that have been developed over the years for injection into the skin, such as hyaluronic acid.
They help to restore your skin and facial contours to their former youthful appearance, as the material is injected into areas where it needs to be plumped up again and made to look firmer, both in terms of filling out wrinkles or re-volumising the face as well as addressing ageing hands. Dermal fillers have many applications so it’s important to learn about what they can treat.
Dermal fillers come in a variety of concentrations, and in general, the thicker the product, the deeper it is injected. Dermal fillers can be used all over the face to help plump out lines and wrinkles, reduce scarring, add volume and contour the face.
Exclusions: Patients in the following categories may not be suitable for treatment
Though this is a clinically proven treatment, it is not entirely without risk. There are several possible side effects, most of which are uncommon.
In each individual case there may be additional risk factors that could potentially lead to complications. This will be assessed and discussed during the consultation and consent process and where appropriate any other risks will be highlighted at that point and recorded on the consent form.
Dermal filler results are instant. However, full tissue integration usually takes place at around 4 weeks post treatment which is when the maximum effects can be observed. Depending on product used you can expect results to last from 6-18 months. This is due to the nature of the components within the filler which are naturally re-absorbed by the body.
In rare cases the treatment may have little or no effect. Results cannot be guaranteed.
Before Treatment:
For any patient undergoing a cosmetic treatment we would always encourage you to take your time to do your research.
Only undertake treatment qualified with a fully qualified and experienced practitioner who is trained to administer injectable treatments, check that the provider is accredited by relevant professional bodies.
We would recommend that any injection is done in a clinic setting, equipped with the appropriate safety and clinical equipment, where the highest treatment standards can be met.
Always question what products are being used and check that they are approved for the treatment that you are undertaking. There are many different types of filler and your practitioner will be able to inform you of the specifics relating to each product and why these would be suitable for your treatment.
We are committed to delivering safe, natural results. You will always have a pre-treatment consultation with your practitioner which will include a full review of your medical history. This will also include a discussion about the areas of concern, the treatment options available and a realistic discussion about what can reasonably be achieved.
After Treatment:
Most patients have no significant issues after treatment but listed below are some precautionary measures that we suggest you take to give you the best results from treatment.
