If you’re a dentist and you haven’t considered training in medical aesthetics…WHY NOT?
You already tick some of the biggest boxes for training:
- Medical background
- Highly skilled
- Independent prescriber
- Work out of a practice already
This makes it very easy for dentists to train and start practicing in aesthetics.
If that doesn’t convince you, let’s talk about some of the reasons you should consider adding this to your treatment range.
1) Retain More Patients (and see them more often!)
With more and more dentists moving into medical aesthetics, those who can offer aesthetic treatments are going to be more popular.
You already have a steady stream of patients you could be advertising to – make the most of it!
Giving your patients a wider range of treatment options, and being able to cater for their whole face, is a great way to build customer loyalty, and have them coming back!
They’ll be back more often too, for consultations, reviews and other treatments available. Not to mention they’ll be excited to see you!
2) The Regulations are in Your Favour
In Scotland, medical professionals who practice aesthetics must be working out of a HIS registered clinic. For some, it can be time-consuming to find a place, sort out practicing privileges and organise a prescriber.
Dentists are sitting in a great position, you can be your own prescriber and introduce aesthetics into your current practice. If you already see NHS patients, you won’t need to register your clinic again with Health Improvement Scotland and can get started right away!
3) Take Your Smile Makeover to the Next Level
We spoke to our Training Manager Melanie who said, “As dentists, we often forget about treating the whole face and not just the teeth in isolation”.
She went onto say that medical aesthetics are actually a great add-on to your general practice. Especially when it comes to enhancing lips, treating a gummy smile or relieving discomfort for your patients with clenching-related TMD.
“You could help a patient if they’re bruxist or if treating the gummy smile is going to take the smile makeover from a 7/10 to a 10/10 – it’s an excellent thing to do for your patient”
What you already know will aid you in aesthetics, and what you learn in aesthetics will in turn improve your technique, knowledge, and standards throughout your practice.
We could go on, but you get the drift!
