How To Get The Most From Social Media For Your Medical Aesthetic Business

Social media can be an intimidating space but the room for business growth is unlimited especially in medical aesthetics.

Inspired Cosmetic Training was delighted that social media guru, Gary Ennis, who has over 25 years experience in digital marketing hosted a mini-masterclass for our delegates and we’d like to share some of his great tips and practical advice.

*First thing! Make sure you stick to Advertising Standards Agency regulations especially in regard to advertising Botox as well as Facebook regulations or else you may end up in… FACEBOOK JAIL!!!

Check out these links to help keep you right; Facebook Personal Health Policies, Saveface’s Botox FAQ page and ASA Guidelines on medical and beauty products.

So lets get started………..

1. Remember the ‘social’ in social media

Instead of overwhelming our followers with business content, you  should chat to them think about having a conversation with your audience –  engagement is the word. Social media is a fun space for people to enjoy and although it is a great place to learn more about your business, it is primarily for socialising and no one wants to be spammed.

2. Never Cut ‘n’ paste

There are different social media platforms which attract different audiences. Reading the same thing over and over is boring and a waste of time so why would it be any different with regards to social media content? Learn what your customer wants from each platform and apply it!

3. Understand the algorithms

Engagement is key as it furthers your reach! Naturally, reach can be low so we should do our best to engage with our following whether its by using groups, posting stories or including more video content.

4. Consider why they’d stop scrolling

People love to scroll… and scroll and scroll and before they know it an hour has passed maybe even two! It is our job to stop them. Gary suggested using ‘SEE’ which stands for Surprise, Educate and Entertain. If you can capture these qualities within a post, you’re on to a winner.

So you could for example do a post that might educate your followers about a new treatment, people love facts too,  then your  next post more entertaining eg/ a pet post and so on!!!

5. Paid social media is not a last resort

When using paid advertising we should target a niche market to make the most of our money. It is pointless trying to impress everyone as that is never going to happen.

6.The power of what other people say

Everyone appreciates word of mouth so lets translate that onto our social media platforms with the use of reviews. People trusts people when it comes to an experience with a product or service and it’s free so we shouldn’t ignore it.

7. Find your Micro-influencer

We live in the age of the influencer and finding the micro-influencer that your customers trust may just be one of the best business moves you could make.

They don’t need to have millions of followers to get a good reach and it is one of the most successful ways to market a product or service.

8. Knowledge is power

It may sound boring but don’t forget to look at your analytics! Don’t assume you know your audience, actually get to know them. The data is all there for the taking, it will help teach you how best to use your platform.

9. Don’t forget the website

Your website is like your professional base and cannot be neglected. You have full control and it really sets the tone for the quality and standard you set for your business.

Considering how to increase your ranking on Google can be of massive benefit, one way is through blogging (like this!!) and constantly remember to be linking to your socials. This helps build an online community around your business.

10. Trends

Some homework for you… go on social media!! I’m sure you’ve had more challenging assignments but this is truly the best way to keep up with the trends. A popular trend at the moment is TikTok and within the platform itself there are various trends of it’s own. Evolving with the trends is perhaps the most savvy way to keep your customers engaging with your content.
