What Medical Aesthetic Insurance Do You Need?

First things first, you need medical aesthetic insurance and this needs to be taken out before you do your first treatment.

You’ll need Medical Malpractice Insurance and most of you will need Public Liability Insurance as well. Plus, there are a whole host of add-ons you can take out too!

Here’s a few bits of advice below and we also recommend you talk with an insurance broker or advisor who specialise in aesthetic insurance policies, to ensure you make the right choice for your practice.

Insurance Checklist:

1/ Make a list of treatments you will be doing

2/ Get some quotes from a variety of Medical Aesthetic Insurance companies. We have used Hamilton Fraser Insurance quite a bit and they are a reputable company

3/ Compare prices, what’s covered and check the level of cover is suitable to your business – this is really important!

4/ Read the quote thoroughly and the terms and conditions

5/ Usually a standard policy offers up to £5m indemnity cover for any one claim or series of claims during the policy period

6/ Check your insurance covers costs defending an allegation, as well as any sums and costs that are awarded to the claimant.

7/ Public liability is handy too if, for example, you’re mobile and working out of people’s homes or in your cosmetic clinic if a patient e.g./ trips or falls.

8/ Public Liability cover up to £2m is normally standard

9/ There are also lots of add-on insurance you can take too, such as Products liability cover, employers liability etc.

It’s important to spend a bit of time finding the right insurance for your practice to provide you with peace of mind and to safeguard you, your business and your reputation, as claims are costly.
